Police are searching for a man after an armed robbery at the Cash Store in Baraboo on Thursday.

Officers were dispatched to the store, located in the 900 block of Highway 136, at about 12:33 p.m., according to Baraboo police.

The robber apparently entered the business, displayed a black handgun with a scope and demanded money. The man then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and entered a dark-colored SUV that had wheels with black rims. The vehicle drove off, heading westbound on County Road W towards Highway 12. While officers searched the area, they didn’t locate the SUV, police said.

Investigators obtained a photo of the vehicle, which they released to the public.

The suspect is described as a Black man who was about 5 foot 6 inches tall and had a slim build. He was wearing black pants with a gold belt buckle, black jacket, black face mask and white sneakers, police said.

The Wisconsin State Patrol, Sauk County Sheriff’s Department and Reedsburg Police Department assisted Baraboo police.

Authorities are advising members of the public not to approach the vehicle if they see it and contact local law enforcement.

Baraboo police reported Friday afternoon that no suspects have been taken into custody nor has the vehicle in question been located. They said the investigation is continuing.

Officials with the Baraboo Police Department said they’re still awaiting security video of the incident and said they would release a photo of the suspect once available.
