Congratulations to Powerlifters in Wisconsin for a great season! WHSPA State Powerlifting Championships were on March 7-9th, here are the results for the first two sessions.
In the first session of the Championships, the 97lbs, 105lbs, and 114lbs lifters competed. From the central Wisconsin schools I report on, we had six lifters place in the top five for their weight classes. Nearly sweeping the weight class are three girls equipped 105lbs lifters from Necedah. Chloe Bell placed 1st with a 589.7lbs total for the day; Mikaylee Dammen placed 3rd with a 479.5lbs total; and Kyra Nieto in 4th with a 396.8lbs total. The other three are all 114lbs lifters, but each in different classes. Jasmine Wendt from Necedah placed 2nd in the girls equipped 114 class with a 606.3lbs total. Daniella Haynes from Necedah in the girls raw 114 class is the state champion with a total of 633.8lbs for the day. Rounding out the day with another state champion, Spencer Cernika from Necedah in the boys raw 114lbs weight class with a 727.5lbs total.
In the second session of the Championships 123lbs, 132lbs, and 148lbs lifters took the stage. Seven area lifters placed in the top five for their weight classes. In the girls equipped 123lbs weight class, Abby Christensen from Necedah placed 2nd with a 722lbs total, and Kasondra Ferge from Adams-Friendship placed 5th with a 644.8lbs total. The girls equipped 132lbs class Sofia Brown from Adams-Friendship placed 3rd with a 661.4lbs total for the day, and Sarina Matzinger placed 4th with a total of 644.8lbs. Then, In the boy’s equipped 132lbs weight class, Brandon Manthey from Adams-Friendship placed 3rd with a total of 876.3 for the day. Lastly, in the girl’s equipped 148lbs weight class Naomi Lukas from Adams-Friendship placed 2nd with a 832.2lbs total, and Missalyn Swenson placed 3rd with a 705.5lbs total for the day.
Congratulations to every lifter who took part in the season and the state meet! Thank you to all the coaches, and volunteers that keep this sport running, you’re all heroes! See y’all next year!
