Remiker announces bid for Wisconsin Democratic Party chair
Remiker is the former executive director of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
REEDSBURG, Wis. (Civic Media) – The former executive director of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin is announcing a bid to become the party’s chair in the state.
Devin Remiker made the announcement Thursday, just moments after current chair Ben Wikler said he was not seeking re-election.
“I’m running for WisDems chair because now isn’t the time to hit pause or rebuild, it’s time to fight tooth and nail,” Remiker said. “I have the experience working with local party leaders and grassroots activists to provide the partnership they desperately need on the frontlines of this fight.”
Remiker was the executive director of the state party from 2021 to 2023 before serving as an advisor for the Biden-Harris and Harris-Walz presidential campaigns. He’s currently a senior advisor for the state Democratic party.
Wikler was originally elected as the chair of the DPW in June of 2019. Last fall, he ran to be the chair of the national Democratic Party, which was won by Ken Martin, who previously chaired Minnesota’s Democratic Party.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Ben Wikler for the leadership and vision he brought to the party, and working with him has been the honor of a lifetime,” Remiker said. “I am fortunate to have learned from him and to have the opportunity to build upon his legacy. I know that he is leaving the party with a rock-solid foundation that I hope to build upon.”
Party members will elect a new chair at the 2025 WisDems Convention in Wisconsin Dells in June. All elected offices with the state’s Democratic Party serve two-year terms. Anyone interested in running for state Democratic Party office can visit the 2025 convention website for more information.
