Animated staple “The Simpsons” is still going strong in its 37th season, actress Sydney Sweeney remembers a piece of bad advice she received that helped her become a megastar, and Kim Kardashian shares her shocking take on the 1969 moon landing after consulting with TikTok experts in this edition of “In Case You Haven’t Heard.”
The Kardashian family has given us everything from homemade sex tapes, to crappy products, to seeing how much plastic surgery money can buy, to being absolutely terrible role models, but head sister Kim Kardashian might have just made up for all of that awfulness by dipping her most likely waxed toe in scientific waters.
According to People Magazine, on a recent episode of “The Kardashians,” Kim said she does not believe the 1969 moon landing was real. When asked by her producer if she was standing by her comments, she said “yes, go to TikTok and see for yourself.” I’m guessing that when you Google this on TikTok, there is an ad for another garbage Kardashian product right next to Buzz Aldrin’s face. Sure, she and her family are wildly unpopular, but you cannot deny her theories when she backs them up with social media science.
There are long TV runs for half-hour shows, then there are long TV runs for animated half-hour shows. “The Simpsons” has been on for 37 seasons and counting, and “Family Guy” has been on for 23. “King of the Hill” is no slouch either, as it was just renewed for two more seasons, which will bring it to 16. “King of the Hill” did have a long hiatus, but it’s back with a vengeance. You can check out “King of the Hill” on Hulu.
Here’s one of Pete’s Pics. “A House of Dynamite” is a great streamer. Kathryn Bigelow is a big studio director, but this movie has a smaller feel to it, even though the log line cries epic disaster film. The story follows the reactions of various government officials as they find out a missile is headed toward the US. Idris Elba plays the U.S. President, and Rebecca Ferguson plays a White House Situation Room Official. The story is told in a non-linear format and keeps bouncing back-and-forth between government branches as the clock ticks.
Bigelow does a decent job of helping viewers get to know her characters, despite minimal screen time for each. I especially liked Alba’s performance as the president, who seems truly conflicted as to whether or not he should give the go-ahead to start bombing other countries without knowing who is really behind the missile. I did like the film, but I might’ve liked it a little less had I seen it in the theater. Having said that, I think it’s worth a look – especially from your own living room.
Bruno Mars’ debut album has been on the Billboard Charts for 750 weeks. It sounds even longer when you say Bruno Mars’ album “Doo-Wops and Hooligans” from 2010 has been on the Billboard 200 for 14-and-a-half years! The effort is now part of an elite club. According to the New York Post, Mars is in the same company as Bob Marley, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Eminem and Journey’s Greatest Hits when it comes to Billboard album longevity – I’m guessing “Don’t Stop Believin'” is on there.
One of the songs of the album, “The Lazy Song,” has reached Diamond status, meaning it’s gone 10-times Platinum. Despite “The Lazy Song” being one of the songs that launched him into superstardom, Mars is not a fan of it and finds it hard to listen to. Mars also reached another milestone in that he became the first artist ever to have 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Bruno Mars has won 13 Grammys over his career. To put that into perspective, I’ve never even been nominated.
Sydney Sweeney has very strong eyebrow muscles, according to Sydney Sweeney. The “Euphoria” actress told Variety that while auditioning for gigs in rural Idaho when she was 16, someone told her to take Botox if she wanted to make it in the business. The lesson learned for Sweeney was stick to your guns; “White Lotus” producer Mike White cast her a few years later and said she had the perfect look!
That experience was similar to that of actor Leonardo DiCaprio. At the age of 12, while he and his father were searching for an agent for DiCaprio, the feedback they got from potential representatives was that DiCaprio needed to change his name because it was too ethnic. At one point, an agent actually told him your new name is Lenny Williams. Lenny, being short for Leonardo and William his middle name. DiCaprio says he actually had a headshot done with the name Lenny Williams underneath it. His dad took one look at it and said, “over my dead body,” and ripped up the photo. Would love to know what the agent’s reaction was when DiCaprio drew an Oscar nomination for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?
Well, if you’ve got $750 burning a hole in your pocket, you can see Sting in concert in the San Francisco Bay area as part of a Super Bowl-sponsored concert. The airfare will probably set you back a bit as well. Sting performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2003 with Shania Twain and No Doubt. This year, according to Yahoo! News, there is speculation that the NFL is putting the show on in response to the harsh criticism they have received from the really far-right for having Bad Bunny perform at this season’s halftime show.
To the NFL’s credit they have not caved and are going through with the show featuring the Spanish-speaking performer. The only downside to attending the Super Bowl is Bad Bunny’s show will probably be bookended by having to watch Patrick Mahomes yet again. My advice? Save a few bucks, buy yourself a plane ticket, get a hotel, and go see Sting.
