RICHLAND CENTER, WIS. (WRCO / WRCE) SEH gave a review of its analysis of the buildings and grounds at the Richland Campus at yesterday’s (Wednesday) meeting of the Richland County Campus and Reconfiguration Committee. SEH also developed a survey for Richland County residents to share their input of what they feel is the best solution for the buildings and grounds. The plan is to have the survey public at the beginning of the new year. The plan from SEH for the campus and grounds is to have the Symons Recreation Complex and Pool remain on the site for the long-term. The Athletic Fields, the Roadrunner Gymnasium, and Melvill Hall are in the process of being sold to the Richland School District. Science Hall, Miller Library, and the classroom building are beyond their useful life and are planned to be demolished. The Wallace Student Center is planned to remain for now to search for a new reuse of that building.

The Symons Center has future expansion goals. Prior to putting out an RFP for the Campus property, the county needs to ensure that the Symons Center has the land allocated to them to set them up for future success. Surveying costs will be covered by the Branch Campus Redevelopment Grant. The Campus Reconfiguration Committee approved moving forward with this plan.

A collaboration between the City Administration and Economic Development Departments and the County to explore a potential housing subdivision on a portion of the Campus site, and to incorporate the HUD Community Project Funding (CPF) Grant into the planning and

the funding strategy for this project was discussed. The cost of the infrastructure to the property on the northwest side of the property off of Hive Drive which could hold 17 to 18 homes would cost just over $2.1 million. While there is a lot of property to consider for projects, the committee agreed to move the proposal on to the Executive & Finance Committee.
