
Lancaster overcame a challenge from River Valley in area girls basketball. The Arrows prevailed 69-53 in a Southwest Conference game Thursday night in Spring Green. The visitors never trailed and jumped out to a 21-3 lead. The Blackhawks overcame a rocky start and got within 6 points before halftime before Lancaster led 31-22 at the break. The Arrows built double digit leads in the 2nd half. River Valley would again pull to within 6 points but could not get closer. Lancaster is still unbeaten in the conference and are 20-1 overall.
River Valley was led in scoring by sophomore Brooklyn White who had a strong night with 22 points, Brooklyn Stokes added 16, Ella Myers scored 9, Elizabeth Gostomski and Bella DeViney each scored 3 points. The Hawks made 6 three pointers and shot 5 for 11 from the line.
Lancaster was paced by high scoring freshman Lexi Olmstead with 25 points. Addison Morgan added 13, while Maddie Burr scored 11. The Arrows made six three pointers and went 13 for 22 from the line.
River Valley won the JV game, 59-12 over Lancaster.
Following the 69-53 win, Lancaster will prepare to play Dodgeville next week. The Blackhawks will play a non-conference game at New Lisbon on Tuesday.
