Iowa County Sheriff Michael Peterson has announced that Kelli Nechkash, 67 of Black Earth, has been formally charged in the death of her husband, Todd Nechkash Sr., 62 of Ridgeway.
On the morning of February 12, at approximately 11:20, the Ridgeway Marshal’s Office and an Iowa County Deputy responded to a home on Collins Street in the Village of Ridgeway to conduct a welfare check. Upon arrival, deputies located Todd Nechkash dead inside the home. Following further investigation, the death was determined to be a homicide.
Investigators determined that Kelli R. Nechkash had prior contact with law enforcement the evening before Todd was located deceased. On the night of February 11, shortly after 11:00, Kelli Nechkash was arrested in the Town of Mineral Point following a motor vehicle crash and taken into custody for Operating While Intoxicated – sixth Offense. Those charges have been referred to the Iowa County District Attorney’s Office.
As the homicide investigation progressed and evidence was gathered, investigators identified Kelli Nechkash as a suspect in the death of Todd Nechkash. On February 16, Kelli Nechkash was formally arrested for First-Degree Intentional Homicide in connection with the death of Todd Nechkash Sr.
Kelli appeared in court at the Iowa County Courthouse Monday for a bond hearing. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
