RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- There will be an increased police presence at Laconia Elementary School after live ammunition was found in a school bathroom yesterday.
Rosendale-Brandon Schools Superintendent Wayne Weber sent a letter out to parents yesterday explaining the action they took upon the discovery.
A student found the ammunition and notified a staff member. The school instituted an administrative secure and hold. During that time administration and the school resource deputy reviewed video surveillance and conducted interviews, including conversations with a number of second, third, and fifth-grade students.
Specialized K9 units capable of detecting gunpowder residue were brought in to sweep the premises. The source of the ammunition was not identified, and the matter remains under investigation.
