April is Autism Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Throughout the month, organizations and communities host educational events, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns to highlight the unique strengths and challenges faced by individuals with autism. This observance aims to foster a more inclusive society by promoting neurodiversity and reducing stigma, while advocating for improved resources, research, and support services for those on the spectrum and their families. Autism Awareness Month encourages people to recognize that autism is not a deficit but rather a different way of experiencing the world, with each person having their own distinct abilities, perspectives, and needs.
I consider myself blessed to have personal experience with ASD. My late son Caleb was on the spectrum. He taught me so many incredible things about how he viewed the world through a different lens. Please take some time this month to learn more about ASD! đ
