For as long as I can remember, I have been a fingernail chewer. When you think about it, it is actually really disgusting. And, somehow, I am a germ fanatic at the same time. I know they say that some people chew their fingernails because they are anxious. For me, it must be a subconscious thing. I don’t feel very anxious, but yet anytime I see that my fingernails have grown out a bit, I start chewing on them. Remember the famous line from the Breakfast Club, when Bender says, “If you keep eating your hand, you’re not going to be hungry for lunch.” I still laugh at that one.
I always used to wonder why I tended to get sick with colds more often than my friends. It took me to adulthood before I realized that chewing my fingernails was a big reason. I’m the guy that uses my foot to flush the toilet, but yet I am sticking my fingers in my mouth. Oh well! 🤷🏼♂️
